HOMEWORK:
  1. If the class finished the notes, please finish the La Conchita response paragraph and BE READY TO SHARE IT WITH THE CLASS!
  2. Begin to study for the TEST on Monday!
  3. Organize your notebook if you have not done so!
EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES:
  1. 10 points - Bring in 2 boxes of tissue for 10 points! (noses are starting to run and we don't have any.) 
  2. 30 points - Landslide Response:
    1. Go to the Landslide Blog and choose a landslide to read about. PLEASE CHOOSE ONE FROM AT LEAST A WEEK OR MORE AGO!
    2. *Bonus Points if it is a really interesting landslide!
    3. Read the post, watch any videos of the slide, and COPY AND ANSWER the following questions.
      1. What is the name of the Landslide OR Where and When did the slide happen? (the date and place are often how the slide is identified.)
      2. Based on the pictures and/or video which type of mass movement is it?  (hint: look at your notes for a reminder of the 6 types)
      3. Where any people hurt?  Describe anything known about this.
      4. Was there any damage to infrastructure, like roads, buildings, etc?  Describe it.
      5. How did you feel seeing or watching the landslide?  
    4. Turn this paper in to Mrs. Hollister no later than Friday, December 12.

*Bring a soil sample for our lab activity tomorrow!  You will need at least 1 soil sample per table group or your group will not be able to do the lab!  You can bring a sandwich baggie of soil - that will be plenty for you.*

AGENDA:

  • Soil Notes from the book - your notes must use color/boxes/sections to organize the information.  Do not just write sentences in rows!
  • Get a stamp on the soils notes (except per 1 - tomorrow) and then get the soils questions.
HOMEWORK:
  1. Finish and review your Soils Notes for a Soils Quiz tomorrow!
  2. Complete the Soils Questions - stamped tomorrow.
  3. Bring a small soil sample (a sandwich baggie or so) of soil from your yard for the lab tomorrow.  Remember - if no one in your group has brought any soil your group cannot do the lab!
