**Today is the 25th Anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake!  Read a newspaper article and summarize it for 20 points!**

HOMEWORK:

  1. STUDY for your rocks TEST 
  2. Organize your notebook for both the rocks and minerals units - Due Monday
EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY
  1. 10 points for each rock you make.  You can make up to 5 different rocks!
  2.  Use food items (candy, frosting, etc..) to make each type of rock (Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic).  Explain which how the food items help to represent the different parts of the rock (crystals, clasts, etc...)
      1. example: layers of graham crackers and frosting to represent the rock Gneiss
      2. example: nerds candy in frosting to represent conglomerate
  3. Bring in the "rocks" or bring photos of them and a written page explaining each rock.

*Rocks TEST and Rocks and Minerals NOTEBOOK will be on Monday.  Review notes and get organized.  This will be the final test and notebook for the quarter.*

  • Go over Metamorphic and Sedimentary Rocks characteristics
HOMEWORK:
  1. Due tomorrow:  3.3 and 3.4 questions - COPY and ANSWER each question from page 79 and 84 using complete sentences.

  • Take notes from the book on Chapters 3.3 and 3.4.  Remember that these notes can be used on the Rocks TEST to help you identify your rocks and tell their story.

  1. Due Friday:  questions for chapters 3.3 and 3.4 found on page 79 and 84. COPY and answer each question in a complete sentence.
  2. STUDY for the rocks test.
  3. organize your notebook for both rocks and minerals - we will grade them together!
