HOMEWORK:
  1. Due Monday: Salinity and temperature questions
  2. Due Monday: Graph questions 1-9
  3. Due no later than Wednesday for 20 pts - signed grade printout.
  4. Due Thursday - Oceans Notebook
  5. STUDY FOR 2ND OCEANS TEST ON THURSDAY!
EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES - All due no later than Thursday, March 13!

  1. See the Oceans Unit page for 3 extra credit opportunities.
  2. 50 points - Go to the Gem and Mineral Show.  To get the points do the following:
    1. Go to the Gem and Mineral Show.
    2. Get the Scavenger Hunt paper when you enter and complete it - it must be 100% complete to get credit. (if you feel silly doing this its nice to bring a younger brother or sister to ask for it. )
    3. Show the nice old people and get it stamped or stickered - whatever they are doing this year.
    4. Put your name on it and turn it in to me the following week.
  3. 50 points - Plastic Art - 
    1. Create an original piece of art out of plastic that conveys to the audience the problems that plastics are causing in the ocean and what we can do to help stop or reverse the problem.  
    2. Write a 1 page paper to accompany your art that explains what you hope people will think, feel, and learn from your art piece.  
    3. The art will be graded on it's beauty and the quality of the workmanship.
    4. Look at these pieces of art at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as an inspiration (the last 7 photos).  These pieces of art are part of a display at the aquarium to inform and educate people about the problems that plastic are causing for the oceans.

*Tomorrow is an early out day.  School is dismissed at 12:30.  USE THE EXTRA TIME TO STUDY FOR THE OCEANS TEST ON THURSDAY!*

AGENDA:

  • 20 mins to work on Marine Life Zones diagram and questions.  (use the time to do vocabulart or study if  you are finished.)
  • "You Are What You Eat" group reading.
    • While reading you should hi-lite the main ideas and circle any words that you do not know.  
    • Look up the definition of the words you don't know and write them on the white paper.   Then look again at the sentence where the word was found and re-write or paraphrase the sentence so that you can be sure you understand it.
    • Staple the paper with the definitions to the back of the reading.
HOMEWORK:
