There will also be links to other websites, blogs, and resources to help you be a more knowledgable and successful student. So get started and become a geo-smart citizen of Earth!
Remember - we live on what is considered to be the Sierra Nevada Microplate (even though you will not be tested on this! :) ) Here is a diagram that shows the microplate from http://fieldguides.gsapubs.org/content/7/373/F4.large.jpg

I am a geoscience teacher at Pitman High School in Turlock, California. My love of geology was planted by my father in my childhood, and nurtured and grown during college by several exceptional geology instructors. I began my studies at Modesto Junior College and graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a B.S in Geology and a minor in Biology. After college I worked as a professional geologist until I found a love and passion for sharing what I understood about our planet. I began teaching high school in Los Altos, California, and then moved home to the Central Valley of California, first in Manteca and finally to Turlock.
I firmly believe in the value of understanding the systems and workings of our home planet and wish to instill a love for this beautiful place in all of my students. I believe that the more we understand about how the Earth works, the more we can do to keep it a clean and healthy place for all living things, including us!
