  • Choose a Volcano to Study by clicking on any GREEN triangle - these are considered active volcanic areas in the state.
  • Find the following information and put it together in a small report or poster (1 or the other - not both) to turn in on Tuesday:
    • Type of volcano and its tectonic setting (plate boundary, hot spot, etc...)
    • Type of magma
    • Eruption history - how many times, when, type of eruption, etc...
    • Current eruption alert level
    • Monitoring information - what types of instruments are being used to keep an eye on the volcano, how many of each type, where are they located, etc...
    • Hazards - what are the hazards associated with the volcano?  Are there evacuation zones?  Show them on a map or describe them.  Provide as much information about the specific hazards for this volcano as possible.
    • At least 2 pictures of the volcano
    • 1 map of California that shows where the volcano is located (you can make this by getting a CA map and marking the volcano's location on it)

    • DO NOT PLAGARIZE - ALL WORDS IN YOUR REPORT/POSTER MUST BE YOUR OWN.  ANY COPYING WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC 0! (This includes only changing one or two words in a sentence - your job is to understand the material and then explain it in YOUR words!)
    • Give credit (provide website URL) for any photos, diagrams, or maps that you use.
    • Spelling and grammar count - do your best!
    • Be sure your report or poster is neat and organized.
