EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY
  • 50 points: Create a 3-dimensional model of one of the following.  Everything in the model should be labeled.  If it is not possible to make a part of the model exactly to scale, make a note of this by the name of the object.  Models should not be smaller than 10 inches across or larger than 2 1/2  feet across so that they will be easy to carry.  You may make as many as you like.  Credit will be awarded based on the quality of the work and the accuracy of the work.
    • Model of the Solar System
      • include all the planets (terrestrial, jovian and dwarf)
      • include the asteroid belt, kuiper belt and a comet
      • don't forget the sun!
    • Model of the Earth-Sun-Moon system
      • show relationship of the earth, sun, and the moon
      • Bonus points if you can make the objects in the model move!
    • Model of the Sun and all of it's layers
      • include the core, radiative zone, convection zone, photosphere, chromosphere, and the corona.
      • also include granules and sunspots, a prominence, and a solar flare
    • Model of the Milky Way Galaxy
      • include the location of our solar system
      • the dimensions of the galaxy
      • label the galactic bulge and the disk
      • the cygnus arm, the perseus arm and the orion arm
